What's in a Name? Petunia Pickle Bottom

Petunia Pickle Bottom was founded by a trio of friends in 2000. The head designer's father coined the name when she was a toddler. The trio changed the dreaded diaper bag into an item essential to mommy chic. Remember, not so long ago, when your only diaper bag choices were a baby blue quilted teddy bear print or a pastel pink baby footprint bag? PPB has taken silk brocades, cut velvets and hand-woven tweeds from the fashion world to make their bags something any mom is proud to carry. They've added accessories for you, such as wallets and shopper totes, and have increased their line to include bedding, carriers and layette, all with the same fashion-forward style that you have come to expect from Petunia Pickle Bottom.

Do You Love Hot Dog on a Stick Lemonade?

We found the recipe! I've tried it many times and it tastes just the same as at the mall-HEAVEN! Don't let the sugar amount freak you out, it's probably less than a Capri Sun or other sugar drink.

You can make this into a kid activity. Put them outside if you are worried about lemon juice squirting all over your kitchen. I use a strainer over a Pyrex 2-cup measure to sort out the seeds and other yucky stuff.

Kids can:

Gather supplies

Pick lemons

Scoop sugar

Measure water

Juice lemons

Stir

Kids' contributions will vary according to age but you might be surprised at how quickly they learn and how happy they are to help.

Beco Baby Carriers Here Now

Active mom Gabby Caperon started Beco Baby in 2005. She started by sewing diaper covers, but the baby carriers quickly took over. Gabby wanted a carrier for her newborn son, and was not impressed with commercial US carriers. She began researching baby wearing in other cultures, and was inspired to make her own wrap style carrier. She sold this first wrap to a mom in the grocery store! Gabby made and sold a few different styles of baby wearing carriers, but did not like all the strapping and wrapping that was going on. In 2006 she shifted her business plan and designed the Beco, with easy on and off features, and a streamlined design. She sewed them all in the beginning and now has a small sewing center in Costa Mesa, California.
